Rules and Regulations
Registration
1. Quilts must be pre-registered by Friday, August 15, 2008. You may register quilted items by completing an official entry form. Additional entry forms may be acquired by calling the Lewis County Extension Office at (304) 269-4660, Post Office Box 447, Weston, WV 26452.
2. All quilts items entered in the Quilt Show must be brought to the West Virginia Building at Jackson's Mill between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Tues., Aug. 26, 2008. Entries may be mailed or sent by deilvery service to the Lewis County Extension Office, P.O. Box 447/104 Center Avenue., Weston, WV 26452. Entries must arrive before Wednesday, Fri., Aug. 22, 2008 and the cost of return postage must be included (checks payable to Stonewall Jackson Jubilee.)
3. Entry fees must accompany registration, with the exception of the Old Quilts entries, for which no fee is charged. Fees are $5 for one item; $8 for two items; with the $2 per item for additional entries beyond three items. After August 18, a $2 late fee will be added. Make check payable to Stonewall Jackson Jubilee.
No refunds will be given after August 15 for items not actually entered in the contest/show.
Requirements for Entry
4. Quilts must be of heritage nature. Liquid embroidery, painted design, or kits will not be accepted.
5. 2008 entries should not have been previously entered in a Stonewall Jackson Jubilee Quilt Show.
6. Quilts entered in competition must have been made by a living person, as the purpose of judging is educational. Quilts made by a person no longer living may be entered in Old Quilts, with no registration fee, and will not be judged.
7. Quilts may be exhibited for sale or entered solely for competition. All entries will be judged, with the exception of Old Quilts.
8. If your quilt is sold, you pay 15% of the stated sale price to the Stonewall Jackson Jubilee.
9. Stonewall Jackson Arts and Crafts Jubilee will not assume liability for lost, damaged, or stolen entries, although all necessay precautions to assure their safety and security will be taken.
10. To be displayed, quilts must be prepared with a "sleeve" on the back. (Request a formal entry to see the diagram.) This applies to all quilts in Division 1, Baby Quilts in Division II, Novelty Quilts in Division V, and Wall Hangings. Old quilts can be displayed on a table.
11. Official judging will take place on Wednesday, August 27, 2008. The Jubilee uses judges certified by the National Quilters Association.
Awards
12. Each category may be awarded first, second, and third place ribbons. First place winners in each category will receive $20.
13. All first place winners in categories wil qualify for Best of Show competition. Best of Show winners will receive $100 First; $50 Second; and $25 Third, as well as Best of Show Ribbons.
14. One quilt will be selected by Jubilee visitors as People's Choice winner and will receive a ribbon and a $25 cash prize. Each Jubilee visitor will be allowed to vote until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 31. Each visitor can only vote once. The People's Choice Award will be announced after 4:00 p.m. on Sunday when visitors' ballots are tabulated.
15. One quilt will be selected by Jubilee visitors under the age of 12 as Little People's Choice and will receive a ribbon and $20. Voting and announcement of winner will be the same as the People's Choice.
Show Closing
16. Entries may be picked up between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Monday, September 1 at West Virginia Building at Jackson's Mill. No quilts may be removed before 4:30 p.m. Old Quilt Division
17. The Old Quilt Division will be for display only -- no entry fee will be charged, no awards will be given. Pre-registration is requested, along with any information you can provide -- name of quilter, approximate date, special occasion or reason quilt was made, for whom, etc.

Calendar:
Entry deadline: On or before August 16, 2008

Opening night reception: An informal reception will be held for exhibitors at the Southeast Learning Center, Jackson's Mill, WV. on Thursday, August 28, at 7 p.m. We invite you to come and view the exhibit. "Best of Show" and other prizes will be awarded.
Exhibiting Hours: Friday: noon to 9 p.m.; Sat/ Sun: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Monday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Work called for: Work may be picked up at 4 p.m. on Monday, September 1 at the Learning Center. No work may be removed before that time. Entries not picked up, will be mailed or returned to drop points and should be picked up promptly.

Eligibilty:
Amateur Division: Persons 18 and over who earn less then 50% of their income from sales of their photographic work.
Student Division: Persons under 19
Entry/Jury Fee: $2 per print.
This fee is non-refundable unless the work is rejected.

Categories:
West Virginia Heritage: Work depicting West Virginia Lifestyle, past or present. The work should show West Virginians involved in their work or past-time, or the results of what West Vriginians have accomplished. The subject of the work must deal with something man-made or with people. Natural scenery alone does not qualify. Open to amateur and student divisions.
People: Individuals or groups, posed or candid shots. Only restriction is no nudity. Open to amateur and student divisions.
West Virginia Natural Woners: Non-domesticated animlas, plants, insect life, and/or natural scenes without manmade objects. Open to amateur and student divisions.
West Virginia Natural Wonders - Non-domesticated animals, plants, insect life, and/or natural scenics. Open to Amateur or Student Divisions. Please indicate county in which picture was taken.
Monochrome (Black and White) - Prints of any subject.
Three of a kind - Open to Amateur or Student Divisions. Subject open to photographer;s interpreation.
Color - Color prints of any subject.
Student Division: General subjects. Open to any student under 19 years of age.
Photographs must be original works of the entrant. Only amateurs, defined as individuals whose income from photography is less than 50% of their total income, are qualified for entering. Photographs previously exhibited at the Jubilee will be disqualfied.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. All work must be original and photographic in nature. Photocopies are not acceptable. Work must not have been shown before at the Jubilee Photo Exhibit. ANY ENTRIES SHOWING NAME OR OTHER INFORMATION ON THE FRONT OF THE WORK WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR JUDGDING.
2. All work must have the following information on the back: NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, NUMBER OF WORK (ex. 1 of 8), CATEGORY, TITLE, AND PRICE or NFS. The Jubilee retains a commission of 15% on all sales.
3. Each Exhibitor must complete Entry Form (available from the Jubilee) and submit with work. Be sture to enclose the proper fee.
4. Entries must be delivered in reusable container (for your protection)and labeled on the outside with Name, Address, and Number of Prints Enclosed.
5. Prints must be matted or mounted and READY TO HANG. This means a non-abrasive cord attached to the back with gum hangers, linen tape, or other forms of sturdy tape. (Masking tape or Scotch tape are not strong enough to hold prints safely.) WIRES or METAL HOOKS SHOULD NOT BE USED. To avoid damage by falling, test hang your prints at home for a few days before submitting, Prints must not be framed.
6. Prints which arrive damaged, without proper cord, not matted or detached from mat will not be hung. PHOTOGRAPHER'S NAME MUST NOT BE ON FRONT OF PICTURE OF MAT!
7. Minimum size of unmatted pring no smaller than 5" x 7", with mat, 8" x 10". Maximum size including mat is 16"x20". Prints must not be framed or shrink-wrapped in plastic.
8. All work should be called for at the close of show, or shipped, and must include sufficient postage and suitable container, pre-addressed for return shipping. Work called for or prepaid shall be returned to the original drop point within seven days following the show, and should be picked up promptly.
9. Work not meeting above requirements will not be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS.
10. Each work will be judged only in the category for which it is submitted. If no category is designated by entrant, the exhibit committee will assign one.

COST
$2 per piece, limit of eight
AWARDS
Best of Show Ribbon - $175 cash; First, Second, and Third in all categories will receive a ribbon and award. Ribbons will be awarded for Honorable Mention and People's Choice.
AGREEMENT
Entries will be handled with reasonable care but the Stonewall Jackson Heritage Arts and Crafts Jubilee or Stonewall Jackson Photo Club, or persons involved with coordinating and aiding in the exhibit, will not be responsible for loss or damage from any cause, whatsoever. Insurance, if desired, shall the responsibility of the exhibitor. The Jubilee shall have the right to photograph the works of exhibiting artists. Submission of entries constitutes agreement with this clause.
Pie Contest |
| All West Virginia pie bakers are invited to bring the best of their best to the WV Pie Contest. Judges will decide who takes the title of the best pie baker in the state. Bakers should bring their pies to the Jubilee on Sunday for free entry into the event. Judging will be at 1 p.m. at the E.E.C. building. Pies should be of WV fruits, vegetables, or nuts. Pies that need refrigeration are not allowed. Call your local county extension office for rules. |

| ART SHOW SUBMISSIONS Artists are invited to submit artwork to the Stonewall Jackson Jubilee Fine Arts Exhibition on Saturday, August 23 between the hours of 1 and 4 p.m. Receiving will be held at the Harrison Cottage at WVU Jackson' Mill near Weston. The exhibit will be held from noon August 29 - September 1, 2008 at 4 p.m. All original work in any medium is eligible for entry, excluding photographs and commercially reproduced prints. Submitted work must be original and not copied from another person's artwork or any published artwork, animated character, comic or photograph. This adult division will include any artist 18 years of age or older. The student division will include students 12 years old, or in the 7th grade through high school. Each artist may enter one or two artworks for the non-refundable fee of $20 for adults and $10 for students. This is a juried exhibition. The judge will select works from the submitted pieces to be included in the show, and will then judge from the selected works for awards. Any artwork submitted must remain at the exhibit until 4:30 p.m. on Mon., Sept. 1, 2008. Pickup will be from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. only. The person picking up the artwork must sign for it. The 2008 prospectus may be obtained by calling the Jubilee Office at 800-296-1863 or accessing our website.
