Who is the best pie baker in the state of West Virginia?

Visitors to the Stonewall Jackson Jubilee found out on Sunday, Sept. 2, when the West Virginia State Pie Contest was held at the Jubilee at WVU Jackson’s Mill. More than twenty delectable and delicious pies were entered in to the contest to find the best of the best pie makers in West Virginia.

Carolyn Blakemore of Fairmont took top prize with her Strawberry Rhubarb Pie. That entry also took first place in the double crust adult division. Second place in the double crust division was Bernadette Law, of Camden, for another Strawberry Rhubarb Pie. Third place was Linda Reed of Grafton for a Dutch Apple Pie.

First place in the single curst adult division was Mary Marple, of Buckhannon, for a Fresh Strawberry Pie. Carolyn Blakemore came in second with a Jubilee Peach Cranberry Pie. Tom Berlin, of Weston, took third with a Good Old Rhubarb Pie.

Winner of the youth division was Haley Harman of Morgantown with Hayley’s Razzle Blackberry Pie.
